 Thorndon Country Park -Social Sunday Hike - 10KM

Perfect for solo walkers and beginners

Join us for a relaxed Sunday morning walk through the beautiful trails of Thorndon Country Park, followed by optional food or drinks at The Greyhound afterwards.

There's no better way to spend a Sunday morning than getting outdoors, enjoying some fresh air and exploring the beautiful Brentwood countryside. Whether you're looking to meet new people, get some gentle exercise or simply swap the sofa for some fresh air, this is the perfect way to round off the weekend and get ready for the week ahead.

Is this hike for me?

Absolutely.

This relaxed 10km circular walk is suitable for all fitness levels and is one of our most popular social events.

The pace is steady with plenty of opportunities to chat as we go, making it ideal if you're new to walking groups or simply fancy an easy Sunday morning outdoors.

The walk usually takes around 2½–3 hours before we head to The Greyhound, where anyone who'd like to is welcome to stay for a drink or something to eat afterwards.

Coming on Your Own?

Don't worry – most people do.

We know walking into something new can feel a little daunting, but you'll be greeted by Jack and the Essex Adventures team, and before long you'll be chatting away with the rest of the group.

Everyone starts somewhere, and our community is built around making people feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

The Need-to-Knows

• Start location The Greyhound, Magpie Lane, Warley - Free parking available on site or a short taxi from Brentwood or Shenfield station.

• Hike Start Time  Arrival at 9:45am for a prompt 10:00am start

• Please allow enough time to park and check in before the walk begins. Unfortunately we aren't able to wait for late arrivals and will start promptly at 10:00am.

• Difficulty  Easy – The route takes roughly 2 hours , with a relaxed social pace.

• Pub Drinks - After the hike, anyone heading to the pub is very welcome to join us, but please note that all travel after this point is your own responsibility.

What Should I Bring?

• Yourself

• Around 1–1.5 litres of water

• A small backpack

• Snacks if you'd like them

• Suitable walking footwear (much of the route is off-road, so walking boots are strongly recommended)

• A camera or phone if you'd like to capture the woodland scenery

• Money if you'd like to stay for food or drinks afterwards at The Greyhound
