Join us for a special birthday edition of our Social Hikes as we celebrate the man, the legend, the icon (his words, not ours 👀) and the vision behind the Essex Adventures community , Jack “Be bold, start cold” O’Sullivan.

We’ll be celebrating the best way we know how: getting outside, moving, and bringing good people together… with drinks and birthday cake at the end, obviously 🎂🍻

We’ll be heading out on a relaxed 8km circular walk from the Huntsman & Hounds in Upminster, keeping things easy, social, and full of good chat along the way.

This is a community event, open to anyone who wants to come along, meet new people, and be part of the Essex Adventures vibe.

Whether you’ve joined us before or you’re brand new, you’ll be welcomed in, no pressure, no expectations, just a really nice way to spend a few hours.

We’ll finish back at the pub for optional drinks, so if you fancy sticking around for a birthday toast, we’d love to have you there 🍻

The Need-to-Knows

• Start location The Huntsman and Hounds, Ockendon Rd, Upminster RM14 2DN, UK

• Hike Start Time  Arrival at 10am for a 10:15am start

• Difficulty  Easy – The route takes roughly 1.45 hours , with a relaxed social pace.

What do I need to bring?

🙂 Yourself – There is charged parking available on site or the pub is a short taxi ride from Upminster station ( Overground and District Line Services)

🍽️ Food / water – We recommend a small backpack, 1-1.5L of water, snacks if you'd like them

🥾 Suitable footwear – We always recommend walking boots, we are hoping for sunny skies but some of the route may be muddy.

📸 Camera – The woodlands and surrounding countryside offer some great opportunities for nature shots. 

🍻 Money for drinks/food at The Huntsman – Totally optional but we would love you to join us for a some drinks at the end of the hike.
