About
Epping Forest Adventure Hike
For hikers ready to take things up a level
Take on the full length of Epping Forest as we spend the day exploring one of the region’s most historic and impressive landscapes.
Stretching around 13 miles from East London to Epping, this ancient woodland has a history spanning centuries. Once a royal hunting forest, its trails have links to kings and queens, ancient settlements and – according to local legend – notorious highwaymen including Dick Turpin.
Our point-to-point Adventure Hike will take us through the changing landscapes of the Forest, following woodland trails, open heathland and countryside as we make our way from Epping Station to Snaresbrook where you are welcome to join us for a few well deserved drinks.
Expect a full day on the trails, plenty of history along the way and a supportive group atmosphere as we take on one of our most ambitious Epping Forest routes yet.
Who is it for?
This c21km route is designed for those with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable spending several hours walking.
While the pace is still friendly and social, the distance and varied terrain make this hike more challenging than our social events.
If you regularly enjoy long walks, have completed one of our Social hikes and want to push yourself a little further, or simply enjoy spending a full morning in the countryside, this hike is a great next step.
⚠️ Please note: This event is not recommended for complete beginners.
Coming alone?
Absolutely! Lots of people come to Essex Adventures events on their own, and you definitely won’t be the only one.
Our hikes are designed to be friendly and sociable, and we’ll make sure you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.

"Today was the 2nd trek I have completed with Essex adventures and I have to say it did not disappoint. From ease of organisation, clear communication to the meticulous detail of the route plans, Jack and team made this a truly memorable experience. A 24 kilometre hill hike passed in the blink of an eye because it was pure fun and full of laughs. Great day guys, thank you for your conversations and encouragement and can not wait to book another adventure! And just to add, for anyone debating doing to do a trek solo and not part of a wider group, don’t hesitate, the team will make you feel more than welcome!" Ilona, March -26
