Theydon Bois Sunday Hike - 10KM

Perfect for solo walkers and beginners

Join us for a relaxed 10km social hike through Theydon Bois and the surrounding Epping Forest countryside, taking in woodland trails and open countryside before returning to Theydon Bois.

After the hike, we’ll head to a local pub where anyone who wants to can stay for optional drinks or food with the group.

Is this hike for me?

This 10km circular route is perfect for all levels of fitness. Whether you're completely new to hiking or already enjoy getting outdoors, the pace is relaxed, friendly and sociable.

The route takes around 2 hours and is a great way to spend a Sunday morning outdoors, meet new people and explore some beautiful Essex countryside.

Can I come alone?

Absolutely! Most people come along on their own and quickly get chatting.

We know that coming to your first event can feel a little daunting, but Jack and the Essex Adventures team will be there to welcome everyone and make sure the group feels relaxed and inclusive.

Everyone was a first-timer once.

The Need-to-Knows

Start & Finish: Theydon Bois Station, 19 Station Approach, Theydon Bois, Epping CM16 7HR

Arrival: 9:45am

Hike Start:  Prompt 10:00am start

Distance: 10km

Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Difficulty: Easy – a relaxed social pace, although much of the route is off-road and conditions can be muddy depending on the weather.

Post-Hike: Optional drinks or food at a local pub with the group.

What do I need to bring?

Yourself – Theydon Bois Station is on the Central line. Parking is available at the station and in the surrounding area.

Food & water – We recommend bringing a small backpack, 1–1.5L of water and any snacks you'd like for the walk.

Suitable footwear – Much of the route is off-road, so walking boots or suitable hiking footwear are strongly recommended. We have plenty of tales of trainers that didn't survive the Essex mud...

Camera – There are plenty of opportunities for photos as we make our way through the woodland and surrounding countryside.

Money for drinks or food – Completely optional, but we'd love you to join us at the pub after the hike.
